NEPRA increases electricity tariffs by Rs 0.4842 per unit

November 9, 2020 (MLN):  The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased Rs. 0.4828 per unit in the electricity tariff on Monday.

The power tariff has been increased by the authority on account of variation in fuel charges for the month of August 2020.

The actual fuel charges for the month was around Rs 3.6873/kWh, while fuel cost levied by power companies during the month was Rs 3.2045/ kWh.

According to the notice issued by the authority, the fuel adjustment charges for the month of August 2020, would be charged in November bills. However, the decision will not apply to K-Electric and lifeline consumers.

The notice further added that the said adjustment shall be shown separately in the consumers’ bills on the basis of units billed to the consumer in the month of August 2020 by the XWDISCOs.

While effecting the Fuel Adjustment Charges, the concerned XWDISCOs shall keep in view and strictly comply with the orders of the courts notwithstanding this order.
