KSE-100 sheds 234.40 points on Long March shooting

November 4, 2022 (MLN): KSE-100 index witnessed selling pressure on Friday, losing 234.40 points (0.56%) to close at 41,856.31 and marking an intraday low of 41,720.90.

The selling pressure emanated from the political uncertainty in the country and the long march shooting incident on Thursday.

By the session’s end, the total volumes of the KSE-100 index stood at 71.11mn shares, decreased by 18.26% from 87mn shares traded on Thursday.

Shares of 91 companies were traded on Friday, of which 60 recorded a fall, 28 registered an increase, whereas three remain unchanged.

In terms of sectors, most of the negative contributors were cement, technology, and pharmaceuticals which negatively contributed 137.03 points. On the flip side, the fertilizer sector closed the session positive, gaining 34.41 points by the day’s end.

Meanwhile, the volume leaders on the benchmark index were CNERGY (8.40mn), FABL (7.20mn), UNITY (6.43mn), PTC (6mn), and TRG (5.37mn).

The stocks that emerged as net losers during the day included: NESTLE (2.12%), ABOT (7.25%), SRVI (2.30%), ARPL (1.45%), and PKGS (1.72%). On the other hand, the scrips which gained the most during the session included RMPL (7%), PAKT (2%), MUREB (1.18%), DAWH (2.16%), and SHFA (1.26%).
