IRSA releases 21,400 cusecs water

January 01, 2019: Indus River System Authority (IRSA) Tuesday released 21,400 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 33,800 cusecs.

According to the data released by IRSA, water level in the Indus River at Tarbela Dam was 1,421.21 feet, which was 35.21 feet higher than its dead level of 1,386 feet. Water inflow in the dam was recorded as 14,500 cusecs and outflow as 5,100 cusecs.      

The water level in the Jhelum River at Mangla Dam was 1,109.50 feet, which was 69.50 feet higher than its dead level of 1,040 feet whereas the inflow and outflow of water was recorded as 6,000 cusecs and 5,000 cusecs respectively.

The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 26,200 cusecs, 18,700 cusecs and zero cusecs respectively.

Similarly from the Kabul River, 4,100 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 7,200 cusecs from the Chenab River at Marala.

The total water storage capacity stood at 1.177 million acre feet.
