September 13, 2019 (MLN): A delegation of the International Monetary fund (IMF) is expected to visit Pakistan in the next few days, including the Fund’s director for the area, Mr. Jihad Azur.

Mr. Jerry Rice of the Communication Department at IMF addressed a press briefing session yesterday (September 12, 2019), where in response to a question on subsidy cuts and development spending in Pakistan, he stated that one of the key elements of the Fund’s program in the country is the need to mobilize domestic tax revenue to fund the much needed social and development spending while placing debt on a firm downward trend.

He reminded that this was also highlighted by IMF’s acting Managing Director Mr. David Lipton in his recent meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Apart from this, Mr. Rice informed his audience that the Annual Meetings will come into view from October 14th – October 20th, 2019, in Washington.

Apart from this, the press briefing on the World Economic Outlook will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, followed by the Global Financial Stability Report, the Fiscal Monitor and so on.
