Govt moving towards plastic money to facilitate customers: Salman Sufi

Jul 20, 2022: Head of Prime Minister’s Strategic Reforms Salman Sufi on Wednesday said that government, under the vision of digital economy, was moving towards 'plastic money system' soon to facilitate its customers and provide them a hassle-free environment.

Talking to PTV News, he informed that around 4000 paper-based payment system would be converted into digital system by the end of this year, adding, a silent digital payment revolution is on its way in Pakistan.

He said that the online payment system is gaining traction and will change the banking landscape in the country where National Bank has already taken landmark steps for introducing digital payment system.

Salman Sufi further disclosed that by the end of current month, Interior Ministry's Directorate General of Immigration and Passport (DGIP) would officially inaugurate an App through which all passport payments will be made online to facilitate citizens.

This App would be available in App stores and passport office's website page where eligible citizens can easily download this App and can make payment online.
