January 01, 2023 (MLN): In an attempt to provide some relief to the citizens, the federal government on Saturday decided to keep the petrol prices unchanged.

While making an announcement through a media brief, the federal minister for Finance and Revenue Mr Ishaq Dar said that the existing prices would remain in force until January 15, 2023.

Accordingly, per litre diesel, petrol, kerosene oil, and light diesel oil will be available at Rs227.8, Rs214.8, Rs171.83, and Rs169, respectively.

Owing to the fluctuations in petroleum prices in the international markets, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) recommended government an increase of Rs8.76 per liter increase in kerosene oil and Rs7.73 per liter on light diesel oil, however, the government decided not to increase the prices for a while.

As of now, the  Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) on diesel increased by 2.50 paisas to Rs32.5 while PDL on petrol remained unchanged at Rs50 per litre.

On the other hand, no amount in terms of sales tax is being collected from diesel.

The Ex-refinery price of diesel records a fall of 1.4% to Rs183.78 per litre whereas the Ex-refinery price of petrol saw little change to 149.29 per litre.
