February 19, 2019 (MLN): The government is another Rs.37 million in debt in addition to the net amount borrowed as of February 1, 2018, during the current fiscal year (Rs.734.9 billion).

This bring the government sectors cumulative net borrowing as of February 8, 2019 to Rs.772 billion, based on data on Monetary Aggregates, documented and released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The borrowed amount is more than double of the amount borrowed until the corresponding period of last year.

Meanwhile, net borrowing for budgetary support in particular was Rs.912.6 billion, for the said period. Until previous week, this amount was Rs.861.3 million, which means the government borrowed Rs.51.3 billion (net) over the week to support its allotted budget.

In particular, the government has taken a cumulative net loan worth Rs.3.98 trillion from SBP and retired Rs.3 trillion to the Scheduled banks up until now.
