SBP launches Pasban Remittance Rewards

The program aims to strengthen foreign exchange inflows by rewarding remittance senders who use legal and formal channels.

The Pasban Remittance Rewards program follows the SBP’s formal discontinuation of the national Sohni Dharti Remittance Program (SDRP) and the Telegraphic Transfer Charges incentive scheme on July 1, 2026, under IMF scrutiny.

While users can still redeem legacy Sohni Dharti points through June 30, 2027, no new points are being issued under the old state program.

Governor Jameel Ahmad said Pakistan’s goods import bill for the current year is being managed at around $68 billion to $70 billion, compared with $72 billion in 2022.

He said the SBP has achieved a foreign exchange reserve position sufficient to cover three months of the country’s import bill, a key benchmark for external stability.

The governor also emphasized the need to increase foreign exchange inflows and said facilitating exporters remains a priority to sustain economic recovery.

He specifically highlighted the textile sector, stressing the need to address exporters’ issues and facilitate their operations to maximize export revenues.
