Fertilizer offtake records 6.7% decline in Aug’21

September 29, 2021 (MLN): Total nutrient offtake during the month of August 2021 was about 495 thousand nutrient tonnes, recording a decline of 6.7 percent over the same timeframe of 2020.

Among the nutrients, nitrogen offtake increased by 3.7 percent and potash offtake by 124.9 percent, while phosphate offtake decreased by 33.3 percent over August 2020.

According to the latest report by National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC), the production of all fertilizer products during August 2021was about 756 thousand tonnes. Out of which urea and DAP production were 515 and 77 thousand tonnes, respectively. Production of other products i.e., CAN, NP, SSP, NPK’s and SOP was 68, 81, 9.2, 6 and 0.3 thousand tonnes, respectively. Total imported supplies during August 2021were 102 thousand tonnes comprising 82 thousand tonnes of DAP, 5.2 thousand tonnes of SOP, 2 thousand tonnes of MOP, 9 thousand tonnes of MAP, and 4 thousand tonnes of AS.

Cumulative nutrient offtake during Kharif 2021 (April-August) was 2,002 thousand tonnes, which decreased by 7.8 percent over the same timeframe of Kharif 2020. Nitrogen offtake decreased by 2.7 percent, phosphate offtake decreased by 25.8 percent, while potash offtake increased by 47.9 per cent. Urea offtake was about 2,771 thousand tonnes, which slightly decreased by 0.9 percent, while DAP offtake was 667 thousand tonnes, which decreased by 28.5 percent over the same time frame of Kharif 2020.
