Exports from Pakistan decline by 8% MoM in April

May 21, 2021 (MLN): Exports from Pakistan during April 2021 amounted to Rs. 339,618 million (provisional) as against Rs. 368,925 million (provisional) in March 2021 and Rs. 157,075 million during April 2020 showing a decrease of 7.94% over March 2021 but an increase of 116.21% over April 2020.

According to the provisional figures compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in terms of US dollars, the exports in April 2021 were $ 2,219 million (provisional) as compared to $ 2,364 million (provisional) in March 2021, showing a decrease of 6.13% but increased by 132.36% as compared to $ 955 million in April 2020.

Export, during July – April FY2020-2021 totaled Rs. 3,359,862 million (provisional) as against Rs. 2,882,285 million during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 16.57%.

In terms of US dollars, the exports during July – April FY2020-2021 totaled $ 20,906 million (provisional) against $ 18,399 million during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 13.63%.

The main commodities of exports during April 2021 were Knitwear (Rs. 52,842 million), Readymade garments (Rs. 37,296 million), Bed wear (Rs. 36,665 million), Cotton cloth (Rs. 24,857 million), Rice others (Rs. 18,761 million), Cotton Yarn (Rs. 15,726 million), Towels (Rs.12,950 million), Basmati rice (Rs. 10,255 million), Madeup articles (excl. towels & bedwear) (Rs.9,460 million) and Fish and fish preparations (Rs. 7,329 million).
