ECC grants Rs5.57bn for Urea import

May 17, 2023 (MLN): The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Tuesday granted Rs5.57 billion to the Ministry of Commerce for the payment of the federal government’s share of 50:50 basis with provinces on the import of Urea fertilizer.

The ECC further advised the Ministry of Industries & Production to ensure early clearance of subsidy payable by the provinces on imported urea.

In addition, Rs100 million was granted for NHA under PSDP 2022-23 for the construction of a road from Dalbandin to Ziarat Balanosh (77 kms) while Rs1.66bn in favour of NHA to meet its expenditure incurred on the restoration of roads damaged during flood 2022.

The committee also approved Rs17.3mn in favour of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission to meet its employee-related expenditures.

Meanwhile, Rs922mn was granted in favour of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) for the execution of the development project “Construction of 2nd Circuit stringing from Jiwani to Gwadar.”

On the SDG’s front, Rs1bn in favour of the Cabinet Division for SDGs Achievement Programme (SAP) for ongoing schemes was approved while Rs50mn was granted in favour of the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety for SOS Children’s Villages, Pakistan.

Furthermore, the house agreed to provide Rs55mn and Rs1.14bn to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Commerce for Pakistan's Trade Missions abroad, respectively.

The aforesaid meeting was presided over by the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
