Dairy farmers announce a raise of Rs 20 per liter in milk prices

February 2, 2021 (MLN): Dairy farmers on Monday, have announced an increase of Rs 20 per liter in the price of milk, which has yet to be responded by official authorities.

Following this hike, the milk will be sold at Rs 140 per liter from February 11, as announced by Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association President Shakir Umar Gujjar.

For the retailers, Rs16 has been increased, ARY News reported.

Currently, the milk is being sold at Rs 90 per liter in Karachi contrary to the price list by Commissioner Karachi’s office according to which milk price per liter is Rs 94.

According to the commissioner office’s price list, the new raise means Rs 46 jump or difference between officially regulated rates and newly revised rates announced today by farmers.

However, the retailers, have denied any knowledge of the rate hike and emphasized they will continue to sell milk at regulated prices.
