Cotton arrivals fall short by 6.77% YoY, as of Dec15

December 19, 2018 (MLN): Arrival of cotton at various ginneries in Pakistan has fallen short of last year’s quantity by 723 thousand bales, marking a year-on-year decrease of 6.77%. As of December 15, 2018, the total arrival has been recorded at 9.9 million bales, according to recent figures issued by Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA).

Of these, 4 million bales reached the ginneries in Sindh whereas 5.9 million bales arrived in the province of Punjab.

In line with the trend, arrival in both the provinces has fallen short of last year’s, as Sindh recorded 2.2% decrease while Punjab recorded nearly 9.6% decline.

Around 8 million bales of cotton were sold to the textile sector while exporters bought 99.6 thousand bales, by the end of December 15, 2018.
