CDWP approves 3 development projects worth Rs 3.17 billion

December 3, 2018 (MLN): Central Development Working Party has approved 3 development projects worth Rs.3.17 billion and 1 mega project valuing Rs.4.06 billion was referred to Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for its final approval.

Federal Minister for Planning Development and Reform & Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar chaired a meeting in this regard on Friday. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan, officials from different ministries and provincial governments.

The projects approved included schemes in Devolution and Area Development, Education and Mass Media.

In Devolution and Area Development sector, CDWP has approved project worth Rs.520.114 million titled ‘’Khyber Area development project phase 2 “ this project will focus on elimination of poppy cultivation and other illicit trades in the area by introducing high value crops and through alternate means of livelihood. It will make the area accessible to local administration by construction of rural roads.

CDWP also recommended two projects of Education with the total proposed cost of Rs.6657 million. The first project worth RS 2600 million was approved which focused on improving human development indicators in Pakistan (education related) under the Sustainable Development Goals.

The second project of education is “Establishment and Operation of Basic Education Community Schools in the country” of worth RS 4057 Million was referred to ECNEC for further approval.

The CDWP approved one project of Mass Media sector of worth Rs.47.471 million; titled “Technical up-gradation of Radio Station Multan under official development assistance program of Republic of Korea”.

In addition, one position paper worth Rs.1215.6 million was also approved in Central Development Working Party meeting.
