Ahsan Iqbal to chair Annual Planning & Development meeting today

Annual Planning and Development APPC session is being held under Mr. Ahsan Iqbal. The Annual Planning and Development Meeting is set to decide on budget allotments and discuss various growth targets especially the Public Sector Development Fund.

The Committee will give approval to multiple provincial and federal development projects and approve the funds for the projects. It is expected to approve Rs 1,760 billion to be spent on development projects across the country.

The budget for development of federal projects is suggested to be kept at 263 billion, according to preliminary sources. In addition to that, Ministries and Departments have demanded Rs 1,900 billion from Federal Government for multiple projects.

The cumulative central and provincial development budget is to exceed beyond Rs 2,200 billion.

The committee was informed of more than 1,000 development projects which are currently in pipeline. According to sources, a sum of more than 8,000 billion is required to complete these remaining development projects.

Government likely to set 700 billion rupees public development spending for federal projects.

According to sources, Energy, China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Terrorism related projects are at the top of the list for next year’s development agenda.

The government is expected to allot 48 percent funds in Infrastructure and 35 percent in the Social Sector development.
