CPI Preview: Inflation to fall to around 17% YoY in April

PMEX trading activity surges by 36.35% to reach Rs31.28bn

April 26, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) on Thursday witnessed a notable spike of 36.35% DoD to clock in at Rs31.28 billion compared to the previous session close of Rs22.93bn.

At the same time, with a surge of 16.38% DoD in the number of lots traded, 18,123 lots changed hands, compared to 15,572 during the previous session. While, the commodity exchange closed at 10,459, up by 1.17% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs16.79bn. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs4.49bn.

NSDQ 100 also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs4.38bn. In addition, Platinum, Crude Oil, Silver and Paldium attracted substantial attention from investors as well and their transactions stood around Rs1.37bn, Rs1.4bn, Rs1.2bn, and Rs82.29m respectively.

Moreover, Natural Gas transactions reached Rs165.53m, DJ at Rs383m, Copper at Rs347m, S&P 500 at Rs160.9m, JPY equity at Rs346.32 and Brent at Rs28.7m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 15 lots amounting to Rs16.91m changing hands.
