Agriculture machinery worth $46.568 million imported in six months of FY 2018-19

February 8, 2019: The imports of agriculture machinery into the country during first half of current financial year witnessed 8.95 percent growth as compared the imports of the corresponding period of the last year.

During the period from July-December, 2018-19, agriculture machinery worth $46.568 million was imported as compared the imports of $42.741 million of same period last year, according the figures of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Meanwhile, imports of agriculture chemicals including fertilizers manufactured, insecticide, medical products and others also witnessed growth of 9.31 percent respectively as chemicals using in agriculture sector valuing $3.093 billion imported as against the import of $2.829 billion of same period last year, it added.

About 1,062,448 metric tons of fertilizers manufactured costing $ 430.328 million imported into the country during last six months of current financial year as against the import of 875,854 metric tons valuing $324.152 million of same period of last year.

The imports of fertilizers manufactured during the period under review witnessed growth of 32.75 percent as compared the imports of the first half of last financial year, the data reveled.

In first six months of current financial year, imports of insecticides grew by 7.33 percent as 8,852 metric tons of insecticides valuing $61.189 million imported as against the 8,616 metric tons worth $57.011 million of the same period of last year.

The country spent $382.492 million on the import of medical products in last 6 months of current financial year as against the import of $ 335.001 million of same period of last year, showing an increase of 14.18 percent.

During the period under review about 7,924 metric tons of medical products were imported into the country as against the imports of 6,805 metric tons of same period of last year.
