July 16, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 136,379.96, showing an increase of 440.09 points or 0.32%.

The index traded in a range of 1,689.22 points showing an intraday high of 137,232.10 (+1,292.23) and a low of 135,542.88 (-396.99) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 273.10 million shares. 

135K serves as the first key support, underpinned by robust corporate earnings and steady foreign inflowsAli Najib, Deputy Head of Trading at Arif Habib Limited told Mettis Global.

A breach may lead the index toward 132K, where attractive valuations and prospects of monetary easing could restore investor confidence and trigger renewed buying momentum, he added.

Of the 100 index companies 45 closed up, 54 closed down, while 1 was unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were PIBTL (+11.00%), PSEL (+10.00%), GADT (+10.00%), KTML (+7.29%), and FFC (+5.44%).

On the other hand, top losers were BNWM (-10.00%), POML (-7.94%), PTC (-7.51%), ATLH (-3.56%), and MEHT (-3.33%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+645.36pts), ENGROH (+297.70pts), EFERT (+109.92pts), PSEL (+74.55pts), and ATRL (+33.60pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-210.46pts), MEBL (-137.15pts), MCB (-95.57pts), BAHL (-66.35pts), and BAFL (-45.81pts). 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Fertilizer (+767.62pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+291.91pts), Miscellaneous (+79.44pts), Refinery (+34.98pts), and Textile Composite (+22.61pts).

While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-610.61pts), Technology & Communication (-68.37pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-61.03pts), Automobile Assembler (-36.18pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-17.31pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 84,648.35 with a net gain of 47.97 points or 0.06%.

Total market volume was 705.96 million shares compared to 879.12m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs32.19 billion showing a decrease of Rs6.42bn.

There were 357,899 trades reported in 482 companies with 223 closing up, 221 closing down, and 38 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 10,753 points or 8.56% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 21,253 points or 18.46% so far this calendar year.
