PSX Closing Bell: A Slight Dip in the Tune

August 26, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 148,435.06, showing a decrease of 380.24 points or 0.26%.

The index traded in a range of 1,140.62 points showing an intraday high of 149,453.19 (+637.89) and a low of 148,312.57 (-502.73) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 161.93 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 44 closed up, 56 closed down.

Top losers during the day were BAHL (-5.08%), AGL (-3.93%), GLAXO (-3.45%), YOUW (-3.42%), and KOHC (-3.29%).

On the other hand, top gainers were JVDC (+4.37%), BWCL (+3.75%), SCBPL (+3.05%), HUBC (+1.93%), and TRG (+1.90%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were BAHL (-268.03pts), ENGROH (-82.00pts), MEBL (-78.19pts), MCB (-61.12pts), and HBL (-59.61pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were FFC (+148.81pts), HUBC (+95.01pts), POL (+51.54pts), BWCL (+41.66pts), and LUCK (+27.50pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-585.40pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-84.75pts), Pharmaceuticals (-81.91pts), Textile Composite (-26.16pts), and Technology & Communication (-13.72pts).

While the index was supported by Fertilizer (+106.53pts), Cement (+101.32pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+99.37pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+27.89pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+20.64pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 91,554.64 with a net loss of 118.48 points or 0.13%.

Total market volume was 665.42 million shares compared to 693.30m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs31.54 billion showing an increase of Rs5.20bn.

There were 349,706 trades reported in 479 companies with 196 closing up, 255 closing down, and 28 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 22,808 points or 18.16% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 33,308 points or 28.93% so far this calendar year.
