PSX Close: Index Gains 123 Points

September 9, 2022 (MLN): Market witnessed a technical rebound from its key support level on Friday with investor buying over the day leading the index to close positive with a 123 points or 0.29% gain to settle at the 41,948 level.

The market commenced on a positive note as investors' participation remained active in the cement sector, but due to further weakening of the rupee against US dollar investors opted for profit selling in the second session whereas volumes remained decent in the main board, a note by Arif Habib Securities said.

The Index traded in a range of 282.91 points or 0.68 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 42,098.40 and a low of 41,815.49.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 46 closed up 42 closed down, while 5 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 96.44 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 52 points, Fertilizer with 38 points, Commercial Banks with 30 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 13 points and Tobacco with 13 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 46 points followed by POL with 29 points, FFC with 21 points, MEBL with 17 points and PAKT with 13 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Food & Personal Care Products with 19 points, Chemical with 10 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 10 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 5 points and Insurance with 4 points.

The most points taken off the index was by NATF which stripped the index of 21 points followed by HUBC with 10 points, THALL with 10 points, OGDC with 9 points and NBP with 8 points.

All Share Volume increased by 37.93 million to 146.63 million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.25.94 Billion.

Total companies traded were 327 compared to 320 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 160 closed up, 134 closed down while 33 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 17,565 to 88,220.

Value Traded increased by Rs2.74 billion to Rs7.13 billion
