(MLN): Pakistan-China private sector business engagements have entered a
new era of economic partnership, as Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif
noted that enhanced industrial, agricultural and technological cooperation with
China would boost the country's exports and generate new employment
opportunities.
The prime
minister made these remarks while chairing a review meeting to assess progress
on agreements and MoUs signed during the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business
(B2B) conference held in Hangzhou, APP reported.
The meeting was
attended by Ministers Rana Tanvir Hussain, Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema and
Shaza Fatima Khawaja, along with senior government officials.
A total of 123
Pakistani and 436 Chinese companies participated in the Hangzhou conference,
where 207 MoUs worth approximately $7.54 billion were signed across several key
sectors, including battery energy storage systems, artificial intelligence,
mobile phones and handheld devices, fertilizers, seeds, modern irrigation
equipment, fisheries, food processing, biotechnology and vaccine manufacturing.
The prime
minister directed relevant authorities to swiftly convert the signed MoUs into
formal agreements and joint ventures, and decided to personally chair monthly
review meetings to monitor progress on the conference outcomes.
He also
instructed that cooperation between the China Academy of Agricultural Sciences
and the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) be effectively
implemented, saying agricultural research, modern technology and Pakistan-China
joint ventures could bring about a revolutionary transformation in the
country's agriculture sector.
