Banks’ deposits increase by 14% YoY in August

October 03, 2026 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 13.87% YoY to Rs39.24 trillion in August 2026 compared to Rs34.46tr in August 2025.

According to data released by the SBP, Banks' deposits have edged higher by 0.49% MoM, compared to Rs39.05tr in July 2026.

Total advances increased by 10.03% to Rs14.52tr compared to Rs13.19tr from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances increased by 0.36% from their value of Rs14.46tr in July 2026.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 36.99% showing a decrease of 129 bps on a yearly basis, while showing a decrease of 5 bps on a monthly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs41.18tr compared to Rs36.3tr from a year ago and Rs40.83tr from a month ago, showing a YoY increase of 13.45% and a MoM increase of 0.87%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved down by 39 bps to 104.95% compared to August 2025 and increased by 40 bps when compared to a month ago.
