PM declares 100,000 laptops for talented students

August 13, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan has declared it will distribute 100,000 free laptops among talented students across the country on merit, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said.

Speaking at an event in Islamabad marking International Youth Day, the Prime Minister said the laptops will be given to students from all four provinces, the federal capital, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, with distribution based purely on merit and without nepotism.

He clarified that these laptops are in addition to those offered under the interest-based loan scheme, according to the press release issued today.

Referring to Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s victory on May 10 against a numerically larger enemy has ignited new energy in the nation.

He urged the youth to channel this spirit into hard work and strive to win laurels for the country.

Chairman Prime Minister Youth Program Rana Mashhood, in his address, said the government’s merit-based youth initiatives have enabled talented and deserving children to achieve success.

He highlighted landmark projects such as the Pakistan Education Endowment Scheme, Pakistan Daanish Authority, and the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, which continue to support thousands of students in completing their education.

Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Kesoo Mal Khael Das, speaking on the occasion, said Pakistan’s minority communities have always played, and will continue to play, a vital role in the nation’s progress and development.
