PM begins state visit to Saudi Arabia

September 17, 2025 (MLN): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif began a state visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today, following an invitation from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He is accompanied by key members of his cabinet.

During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince to review the full range of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations.

The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.

The visit is anticipated to formalize cooperation in various fields, showing the commitment of both countries to enhance their longstanding fraternal ties.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is historic, rooted in shared faith, values, and mutual trust.

The Prime Minister's visit provides a significant opportunity for the leaders to consolidate this unique partnership and explore new avenues for collaboration for the benefit of both nations.

Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Sharif will travel to the United Kingdom tomorrow, before proceeding to the United States after a two-day stay in the UK.

On the sidelines of the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha, Pakistan and Egypt reaffirmed their solidarity with Qatar.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with EgyptianPresident Abdel Fattah El Sisi, where they condemned Israel's September 9 attack as a reckless violation of sovereignty and international law.

Prime Minister Sharif praised Egypt's proactive diplomacy and stated that the Doha Summit was a crucial step in demonstrating Muslim unity and holding Israel accountable.

The leaders, who were also joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, agreed to maintain close contact due to the regional situation.

During their meeting, Sharif also reiterated Pakistan's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Egypt in the areas of trade, investment, and health.
