PM Sharif arrives in Beijing after SCO summit

September 02, 2025 (MLN): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Beijing by bullet train from Tianjin after attending the 25th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

At Beijing South Railway Station, he was warmly received by Madam Wang Hong, member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

During his visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and other world leaders. In addition, he will participate in and deliver an address at the China-Pakistan Business-to-Business Conference.

Lately, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also held meetings in Beijing with the Governor of the People’s Bank of China and the Chairman of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

The discussions focused on expanding Pakistan’s access to Chinese onshore markets, strengthening financial integration, and supporting investment flows.

Furthermore, during the SCO summit in Tianjin, Prime Minister Sharif expressed Pakistan’s strong support for President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI), calling it a “historic step toward a stronger multilateral system” and emphasizing the country’s commitment to peace, development, and regional stability.
