China remains top import source for Pakistan in August

September 17, 2026 (MLN): China remained the top import source for Pakistan during August, with $1.69 billion worth of payments, up by 12.5% against imports of $1.50bn in the same period last year.

According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, this was followed by U.A.E. Dubai, as Pakistan's import payments to the country stood at $626.82m as compared to $537.20m recorded during the same month of the previous year, depicting a rise of 16.7%.

Singapore was third on the list as Pakistan's import bill from the country came in at $361.67m. This figure was up by a sharp 65% from the $219.18m recorded in the same period last year.

Indonesia was fourth in line as import payments during the aforementioned period stood at $244.05m, depicting a decline of 10.4% YoY.

Among other countries, Pakistan's import payments to Brazil stood at $240.19m, marking a rise of 83.7% YoY, while payments to Saudi Arabia edged up by 3.7% YoY to $230.88m.

Import payments to U.S.A. rose by 9.3% YoY to $160.30mn, while payments to U.A.E. Abudhabi fell by 33.7% YoY to $150.74m.

Import payments to U.K. more than doubled, climbing by 112.9% YoY to $133.49m, while payments to Switzerland surged by 253.9% YoY to $126.22m.

While on a sequential basis, total import payments to China declined by 19.5% MoM, while payments to Indonesia dropped by 23.3% MoM.

Moreover, payments to Saudi Arabia depicted a decline of 12.6% MoM, while payments to U.S.A. eased sharply by 50.9% MoM. U.K. was among the outliers, posting a 66.8% MoM increase, while U.A.E. Dubai rose by 26.5% MoM.
