PKR increases by 2 paisa against USD

August 28, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 2.50 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.80 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.83.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.9 and a low (ask) of 283.7.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.50 for buying and 283.90 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR depreciated 1.03 rupees or 0.31% against the Euro, closing at 327.95 compared to the previous value of 326.92.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 1.23 rupees or 0.33% to 380.24 compared to 379.00 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 2.04 rupees or 0.58% against Swiss franc to close at 351.62.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.76 paisa or 0.40% to close the session at 1.9139 versus 1.9063 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee depreciated 11.39 paisa or 0.29% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.47 from 39.36.

The local currency rose by 1.17 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 75.10. While it increased by 0.79 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.72.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 1.96 rupees or 0.70%. While it has decreased 3.25 rupees or 1.15% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.78% and 11.03%.
