PKR inches Up 5 paisa against USD

August 19, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 5.42 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.96 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.02.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283 and a low (ask) of 284.5.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.55 for buying and 284.55 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 3.51 paisa or 0.01% against the Euro, closing at 329.25 compared to the previous value of 329.28.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 82.05 paisa or 0.21% to 381.02 compared to 381.84 a day ago.

The local unit fell 51.79 paisa or 0.15% against Swiss franc to close at 349.83.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.42 paisa or 0.22% to close the session at 1.9085 versus 1.9127 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 1.58 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.26 from 39.27.

The local currency appreciated by 2.25 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.14. While it increased by 1.48 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.77.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 1.80 rupees or 0.64%. While it has fell 3.41 rupees or 1.21% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.80% and 11.05%.
