Auto financing in Pakistan rises to Rs386bn in July

August 18, 2026 (MLN): Automobile financing in Pakistan has increased to Rs386.29bn in July 2026, witnessing a rise of 1.2% MoM compared to Rs381.69bn recorded in June 2026, according to the latest data released by the central bank.

On a year on year basis, car financing increased by 39.65%, as in the same period last year, the figure for financing was reported at Rs276.61bn.


Going by the data provided by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), consumer financing for house building stood at Rs285.95bn by the end of July 2026, up by 38.12% YoY.

Month-wise, the financing for house building has increased by 7.06% compared to Rs267.09bn incurred in the previous month.

Meanwhile, financing for personal use clocked in at Rs298.19bn, up by 13.51% YoY and 5.41% MoM.

Thereby, the overall credit disbursed to consumers registered a rise of 30.46% YoY to clock in at Rs1.19tr. Compared to the credit of Rs1.15tr in the previous month, consumer financing has recorded a 4.05% MoM rise.

The data released by the central bank further showed that outstanding credit to the private sector rose 12.68% YoY to Rs10.9tr in July 2026.

On a sequential basis, private sector loans reported a drop of 2.32% MoM compared to the credit of Rs11.16tr in June.

Under the credit to the private sector, the loans to the manufacturing sector clocked in at Rs5.79tr in the review period, up by 8.14% YoY while down 3.67% MoM.

The borrowing from the construction sector stood at Rs222.22bn in July, up by 5.64% YoY while down 5.9% MoM.

Going forward, the data further shows that loans to the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors rose to Rs681.44bn in the month under review, up by 37.73% YoY, and on a sequential basis, the loans to the same sector recorded growth of 1.54% MoM.
