PKR gains 4 paisa against USD

August 18, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 4.41 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.02 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.06.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283.55 and a low (ask) of 284.55.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.00 for buying and 284.55 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 30.54 paisa or 0.09% against the Euro, closing at 329.28 compared to the previous value of 329.59.

Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 52.52 paisa or 0.14% to 381.84 compared to 382.36 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 90.07 paisa or 0.26% against Swiss franc to close at 349.31.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 0.73 paisa or 0.38% to close the session at 1.9127 versus 1.9200 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 0.67 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.27 from 39.27.

The local currency strengthened by 1.18 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 75.16. While it appreciated by 1.41 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.78.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 1.75 rupees or 0.62%. While it has depreciated 3.47 rupees or 1.23% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.80% and 11.05%.
