PKR falls 29 paisa against USD

July 16, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 29.38 paisa or 0.10% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 284.96 per USD, compared to previous closing of 284.67.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 287 and a low (ask) of 288.5.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 286.50 for buying and 288.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 1.62 rupees or 0.49% against the Euro, closing at 331.11 compared to the previous value of 332.74.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 1.02 rupees or 0.27% to 381.78 compared to 382.80 a day ago.

The local unit rose 2.02 rupees or 0.57% against Swiss franc to close at 355.65.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 1.26 paisa or 0.65% to close the session at 1.9145 versus 1.9271 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 1.77 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.70 from 39.68.

The local currency fell by 7.63 paisa or 0.10% against Saudi Riyal to 75.98. While it deteriorated by 7.89 paisa or 0.10% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.58.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 1.20 rupees or 0.42%. While it has fell 6.41 rupees or 2.25% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.77% and 11.02%.
