PKR appreciates by 2 paisa against USD

September 01, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 2.13 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.75 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.77.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.8 and a low (ask) of 283.6.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.30 for buying and 283.60 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 1.33 rupees or 0.40% against the Euro, closing at 330.21 compared to the previous value of 328.89.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 1.10 rupees or 0.29% to 381.17 compared to 380.07 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 43.57 paisa or 0.12% against Swiss franc to close at 352.43.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 0.22 paisa or 0.11% to close the session at 1.9146 versus 1.9168 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 1.69 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.50 from 39.52.

The local currency gained by 1.17 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 75.08. While it increased by 0.48 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.71.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 2.01 rupees or 0.71%. While it has deteriorated 3.20 rupees or 1.14% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.78% and 11.03%.
