PKR holds firm, extends rally against USD

June 05, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 1.15 paisa against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.41 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.42.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.45 and a low (ask) of 278.40.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.6 for buying and 279.5 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 86.37 paisa or 0.27% against the Euro, closing at 324.00 compared to the previous value of 323.14.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 59.71 paisa or 0.16% to 374.39 compared to 373.80 a day ago.

The local unit fell 1.88 rupees or 0.54% against Swiss franc to close at 353.47.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.06 paisa or 0.03% to close the session at 1.7407 versus 1.7413 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 3.77 paisa or 0.09% against Chinese Yuan to close at 41.12 from 41.09.

The local currency strengthened by 0.31 paisa against Saudi Riyal to 74.16. While it strengthened by 0.32 paisa against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.81.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 5.35 rupees or 1.92%. While it has rose 1.71 rupees or 0.61% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 12.23% and 12.48%.
