FinMin directs launch of Fan efficiency program

July 07, 2025 (MLN): The Prime Minister’s Fan Replacement Program is set to launch its first phase by the end of the month, as directed by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

Chairing a high-level meeting on the program’s readiness, Senator Aurangzeb was joined by Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan.

Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Pakistan Banks’ Association and senior officials from the Finance Division, Power Division, and other departments.

Stakeholders presented detailed updates on the initiative’s operational preparedness and rollout timeline, according to the press release issued today.

The National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA) shared progress on finalizing agreements with participating banks and integration of banking systems.

It also highlighted the support from the Punjab Technology Investment Board and Power Information Technology Company in delivering technological solutions to accelerate implementation.

Senator Aurangzeb underscored the Prime Minister’s special focus on this initiative, highlighting its importance in promoting energy efficiency, boosting financial inclusion, and ensuring economic stability.

He noted the program's potential to influence consumer behavior, reduce energy usage, and yield broader economic gains.

Appreciating the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, particularly the banking sector, he instructed that all necessary actions be finalized within the next two to three weeks to enable the timely launch.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of commitment from all participants to ensure seamless execution of the program in alignment with the government’s wider economic and energy sector reform agenda.
