Pakistan calls for unity to fight climate change: Ahsan Iqbal

September 09, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan was urged to adopt a robust national action plan and foster unity to tackle the growing threat of climate change, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal emphasized.

Speaking at the annual Convocation Ceremony of the Institute of Space Technology in Islamabad, he highlighted that the country remains among the top ten most affected globally.

He urged greater focus on scientific research and space exploration, describing them as transformative tools in combating climate-related risks, as per the press release issued.

In a parallel development, CEO and Country Head of Acumen Pakistan Dr. Ayesha Khan, along with her team, met with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad.

The delegation shared updates on the $90 million Agriculture Resilience Fund for Pakistan, structured as a blended finance facility to support climate adaptation in the agriculture sector.

Aurangzeb welcomed the initiative, underscoring that Pakistan’s agriculture-dependent economy faces serious climate vulnerabilities.

He emphasized the importance of innovative financing models to build resilience, enhance food security, and strengthen rural livelihoods.
