7.5% Tax for Rs25,000+ Electricity Bills

September 02, 2023 (MLN): Residential customers whose names do not appear on the FBR’s active tax payer list will be charged 7.5% Advanced Income Tax on monthly electricity bills of Rs25,000 and above.

This is in accordance with the Government of Pakistan Finance Act 2021, as per K-Electric website.

However, individuals who are tax filers and have their names listed as active taxpayers with the FBR can receive income tax exemptions and are required to update their CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) information linked to their current account number.
