The PBS released the Inflation figures for December, following is the summary of their release.
CPI inflation, General increased by 3.2% on year-on-year basis in December 2015 as compared to an increase 2.7% in the previous month and 4.3% in December 2014. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.6% in December 2015 as compared to increase of 0.6% in the previous month and decrease of 1.0% in December 2014.
Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 4.1% on (YoY) basis in December 2015 as compared to increase 4.0% in the previous month and 6.7% in December 2014. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.2% in December 2015 as compared to increase of 0.1% in the previous month and 0.1% in December 2014.
Core inflation, measured by 20% weighted trimmed mean CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 2.7% on (YoY) basis in December 2015 as compared to 2.9% in the previous month and by 5.2% in December 2014. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.2% in December 2015 as compared to increase of 0.2% in the previous month and no change in December 2014.
SPI inflation on YoY increased by 2.9% in December 2015 as compared to increase of 2.1% a month earlier and an increase of 0.8% in December 2014. On MoM basis, it decreased by 0.7% in December 2015 as compared to a increase of 1.0% a month earlier and decrease of 1.5% in December 2014.
WPI inflation on YoY basis decreased by 0.4% in December 2015 as compared to decrease of 1.7% a month earlier and a decrease of 0.9% in December 2014. WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 0.7% in December 2015 as compared to increase of 0.01% a month earlier and decrease of 1.9% in December 2014.
