May inflation rise to 3.5%

June 02, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan's inflation rose to 3.5% in May 2025, compared to 0.3% in the previous month and 11.8% in May 2024, the latest data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed.

On a sequential basis, inflation decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous month's decrease of 0.8%.

Accordingly, the average yearly inflation for 11MFY25 is 4.61% compared to 24.52% in the same period last year. 

Urban CPI inflation increased to 3.5% YoY in May 2025, up from 0.5% in the previous month and significantly higher than 14.3% in May 2024.

On a MoM basis, it saw up of 0.1% compared to an decrease 0.7% decline last month and a 2.8% down in May 2024.

Rural CPI inflation, on the other hand, increased by 3.4% YoY in May 2025, as compared to a decrease of 0.1% in the previous month and 8.2% in May 2024.

MoM, it fell by 0.5% reversing the previous month’s 1% down, and compared to a 3.9% decrease in May 2024.

SPI inflation decreased to -0.6% YoY in May 2025, compared to -3.6% a month earlier and 15.3% in May 2024. On a MoM basis, it dropped by 1% May 2025, compared to a 2.1% decrease last month and a 4% fell in May 2024.

WPI inflation increased by 0.4% YoY in May 2025, compared to a 2.2% decline the previous month and a 9.9% decrease in May 2024.

On a MoM basis, no change measured in May, 2025 as compared to a decrease of 1.3% in the previous month and a decrease of 2.5% of the corresponding month of last year.
