Weekly SPI increases by 1.07%

November 19, 2021 (MLN): The weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the combined group increased by 1.07% WoW during the week ended Nov 18, 2021, data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed.

The combined index was at 169.29 compared to 167.5 on Nov 11, 2021, while the index was recorded at 143.05 a year ago, on Nov 19, 2020.

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 27 items increased, 10 items decreased whereas 14 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.39% and 1.44%.

The lowest income group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.39% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 1.44%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 16.31% and 19.16%.

Yearly SPI for the lowest income group increased by 18.62% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 19.61%.

The average price of sona urea stood at Rs2,082per 50 kg bag which is 1.54% higher than last week’s price and 23.32% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the average cement price was recorded at Rs742 per 50 kg bag, 0.45% higher than the previous week and 30.23% higher than prices last year.
