Weekly inflation increases by 0.17%

February 10, 2023 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.17% during the week ended February 09, 2023, while the SPI increased by 34.83% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 228.17 compared to 227.79 on February 02, 2023, while the index was recorded at 169.23 a year ago, on Feb 10, 2022

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 29 items increased, 5 items decreased whereas 17 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed a mixed trend with SPI ranging between -0.06% and 0.22%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly decrease of 0.06% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.22%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 31.56% and 36.36%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 31.56% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 35.83%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.2904 per 50 kg bag which is 1.29% higher than last week’s price and 47.41% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the average cement price was recorded at Rs.1062 per 50 kg bag, which is 0.19% higher than the previous week and 44.88% higher than prices last year.
