TMB reaffirms Easypaisa's independence post Telenor Pakistan's acquisition

March 28, 2024 (MLN): Amidst the rising baseless media claims regarding Telenor Pakistan's acquisition by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PSX: PTC), Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited (TMB) has once again clarified that TMB and its flagship platform, Easypaisa, are not part of this transaction.

“As a licensed financial institution governed by the State Bank of Pakistan, we have already reiterated earlier that Telenor Bank and Easypaisa are not part of Telenor Pakistan's sale in any way,” TMB stated in a social media post today.

The entity noted that such claims are entirely without merit and it pursues strict legal action against any medium found spreading false information.

Furthermore, TMB has urged the public to disregard these unsubstantiated allegations and assured its commitment to provide reliable digital financial services to Pakistan.

To recall, on December 17, 2023, TMB issued a statement that both TMB and Easypaisa were excluded from this transaction.

It also ensured customers that their deposits were completely secure and that this development would not impact them in any way.
