ADB approves $100mn for KPK health system

November 4, 2022 (MLN): The Asian Development Bank has approved $100 million for Pakistan to improve the health sector at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

This program will help the KPK to improve its secondary health services by upgrading the infrastructure of 33 existing SHC facilities, providing quality equipment, and ensuring the posting and availability of medical, technical, and administrative staff.

This initiative will benefit an estimated 38 million people, including women in maternal healthcare services while reducing infant and maternal mortality rates.

Furthermore, it will also ensure efficient outsourcing of certain services to the private sector by introducing and enhancing health management information systems including electronic medical records.

To recall, the ADB released S1.5 billion in Oct’22 under its Building Resilience with Active Countercyclical Expenditures (BRACE) Program to support Pakistan's economy at crucial times.

An agreement is signed between the government of KPK and ADB, also it was signed by the Secretary Ministry of Economic Affairs and Country Director, of Pakistan Resident Mission, Yong Ye.
