SSGC to provide blended RLNG, indigenous gas for both export, non-export consumers

December 22, 2023 (MLN):  Following the authorization from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) has decided to blend indigenous gas and RLNG for both export and non-export consumers, as detailed in an official notice released by the company.

Due to a shortfall in indigenous gas supply, the ECC vide its decision dated October 23, 2023, has authorized SSGC to provide a blend of indigenous gas and RLNG to export and non-export consumers.

Consequently, the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division vide letter dated December 14, 2023, endorsed the proposal for an 80:20 (NG: RLNG) blend for Industrial customers (export and non-export) and a 60:40 (NG: RLNG) blend for captive power customers (export and non-export).

“Given the foregoing and to stabilize the system, we hereby formally notify all new and existing industrial and Captive Power Consumers that SSGC is blending RLNG and indigenous gas for smooth operations,” the notice reads.

Moreover, the SSGC will charge as per the above-specified blend ratios for Industrial and Captive Power Consumers (export and non-export).

This arrangement of blended supplies is effective from December 14, 2023, through June 2024 but is subject to review in March 2024.

As a result of the continuous depletion of indigenous resources, the ratio between Indigenous and RLNG may vary over time.

“SSGC will promptly notify any changes in the proportions of RLNG and Indigenous gas based on gas availability or further directives from the government,” the notice concludes.
