Singer Pakistan optimistic to resume production at Waves Plant in weeks

Singer Pakistan, currently carrying out a survey to gauge true extent of losses, has informed the exchange that the production of refrigerators at the Cool Industries (Private) Limited (CIPL) is expected to resume in a few weeks’ time after the factory was extensively damaged by a fire on Friday last week.

According to the initial investigation, the “cause of fire break-out is short circuiting”.

A fire had broken out on Friday, 11th May 208 at the production facility of CIPL located in Lahore, an associated company of Singer Pakistan Limited (SPL). According to the company, the fire started at the dispatch area caused damage to the finished goods under dispatch along with some of the production facility, related building area, and work-in-process.

However, “the asset damaged by the fire are adequately insured and survey of true extent of losses is being carried out.”

The company further informed that, “according to initial estimate, InshAllah, production of refrigerators is expected to resume in a few weeks’ time while that of deep freezers …. Is expected to resume even earlier.”

Regarding the impact of the fire on the supply chain delivery of the factory, the notice read that “with finished goods inventory at hand, supplies to the market are not expected to be substantially affected. Production facilities of air-conditioners, microwave ovens and washing machines remained un-affected and are continuing un-interruptedly.”
