Rice Exports Association of Pakistan has organized a Lunch in honor of Dr. Sohail Rajput, Chief Secretary Sindh today at PC Hotel Karachi.

This program was attended by Officials of Sindh Govt, Former Chairman Abdul Rahim Janoo along with REAP’s Managing Committee Members and a large number of prominent rice exporters.

Anwar Mianoor, SVC REAP in his welcome address informed that rice from Sindh province has a huge share in total rice exports from Pakistan. Therefore, after taking charge of SVC REAP, he had multiple meetings with the Chief Secretary & Secretary of Agriculture, Sindh Govt, and submitted proposals for the betterment of rice crops and rice exports. He was thankful to Sindh Govt to consider REAP’s proposal, especially to Secretary of Agriculture to approve Phytotron Tunnel Project. This project will be a game-changer in the agriculture sector.

Abdul Rahim Janoo, Chairman of South Zone Group in his address said that being Chairman Ruling Group he is considering Youth for representation in REAP’s managing Committee for the last couple of years. This practice is bringing good results. He added that with the consistent efforts of REAP Members, rice exports have seen growth from $300 million to $2 billion. He was hopeful that this year, we will be able to break the record of rice exports.

He has shown his serious concerns about the trend of replacing agricultural lands with Housing Society. He said that it will be disastrous for our agriculture sectors and if it continues, we may be dependent on imports for food.
