Sindh govt releases wheat quota, price inches down by Rs10 per kg

January 10, 2023 (MLN): In an attempt to meet the acute shortage and rising prices of wheat in Sindh, the provincial government released the subsidized wheat quota to flour mills which reduced the flour price by up to Rs10 per kilogram.

According to Karachi Wholesale Grocers Association, In the open market, the rate of per kilogram of wheat went down from Rs130 to Rs120 and the prices of chakki and fine flour were also reduced. 

Meanwhile, the chakki flour price is reduced from Rs160 to Rs150 per kg and flour mills have been given 97,000 tons of subsidized wheat and 700,500 tones to the chakki owners in Karachi. 

In Hyderabad, the food department released 27,947 tons of wheat to flour mills and 7,000 tones to chakki owners.

All in all, the provincial government has so far released 201,608 tons of wheat to the flour mills and 25,392 tones to chakki owners across Sindh.
