June 4, 2021 (MLN): Sindh Government in principle has approved reforms to bring the surging pension bill under control.

According to the official Twitter handle of the Sindh Government, the current monthly pension bill of the Sindh government is Rs13.3 billion while Rs23.9 billion are spent on retired employees’ pension monthly.

Sindh Chief Minister said, “We have to bring reforms to reduce the pension bill, if the present mechanism continues, the pension bill will exceed the salary bill of the civilian employees after 10 years.”

In a cabinet meeting, it was decided that the revised pension scheme will now apply to newly recruited employees.
