SIFC gears up for crucial talks with Saudi Side on Rekodiq Project valuation

January 22, 2024 (MLN): The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), in its meeting scheduled for January 24 at 1030 hours will conduct discussions with the Saudi Side regarding the valuation of the Rekodiq project in collaboration with Manara Minerals.

The council's executive committee will also provide updates on the identification of potential projects and nomination of the Lead entity from UAE under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the U.A.E. in the mining sector.

SIFC would further provide an update on the correction of percentage change in gas prices in Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) records.

The discussions would extend to the E&P Policy & Regulatory Interventions, where the committee would update on ongoing Policy & Regulatory Interventions, proposals of amendment in Petroleum Policy 2012, the Tight Gas Policy, Streamlining gas allocation process and the Finalization of Model Agreements (GSA/COSA) to Mitigate Agreement Signing Delays.

Another crucial agenda under the petroleum division for the oil and gas sector includes discussions on gas price notification, unallocated gas, rent indexation litigation, and the balance between compliance and control.

The committee would review progress on Federal Board of Customs (FBC), Federal Board of Inland Revenue (FBIR); and Tax Policy Unit (TPU), besides reconstitution of the FBR Board, while aiming at a corporate structure.

SIFC would also review and provide details of projects under the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication. The post-launch implementation plan of the Pakistan Startup Fund, along with timelines, will be disclosed.

Moreover, the council would review progress on the draft MoU between PSEB and DHA for the establishment of E-Rozgar Centers, and provide recommendations on a clear regulatory and operational framework to enable clusters for E-Rozgar centers to extend incentives.
