April 22, 2025 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), in collaboration with the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI), recently held an exclusive awareness session aimed at encouraging entrepreneurs to formalize their businesses by registering as a Company or Limited Liability Partnership (LLP).

The session, which garnered strong attendance from RCCI members, start-ups, and women-led businesses, provided step-by-step guidance on business incorporation.

The session highlighted the importance of choosing the right business structure, noting that it unlocks advantages such as transparent governance, broader market access, increased credibility, and positions firms for investment and long-term growth.

A key development during the event was the proposal to formalize joint efforts through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SECP and RCCI.

The MoU aims to promote corporate literacy, enhance business awareness, and build a resilient business culture in the country.

Attendees were also informed about the significance of continued engagement with business chambers, emphasizing their role in reshaping perceptions and providing the necessary tools for business success in Pakistan's structured corporate environment.

Both institutions also reiterated their commitment to combating Ponzi schemes and illegal deposit-taking activities, encouraging RCCI members to report suspicious activities and act as whistle-blowers.

In line with its commitment to inclusivity, SECP announced plans for a follow-up session specifically tailored for women entrepreneurs, to be held at SECP headquarters, as per the press release issued today.

Additionally, RCCI leadership expressed interest in receiving presentations addressing the incorporation requirements for small-sized companies and the conversion of sole proprietorships into registered business entities.

Looking forward, SECP shared its comprehensive vision for the future, underlining a holistic approach that encompasses every stage of a company’s lifecycle, from formation to operation, dispute resolution, restructuring, rehabilitation, and closure.

This strategic approach positions SECP not just as a regulator but as an enabler of sustainable growth, transparency, and development.

The session concluded with a joint commitment from SECP and RCCI to help Pakistani businesses incorporate, empower, and expand, fostering a transparent and growth-driven economy.

Both institutions stressed the importance of formalizing awareness campaigns and collaborative outreach, marking an important step towards strengthening Pakistan’s corporate ecosystem.
