Rs 8.5 trillion worth of funds against loans allocated to Sindh Province in 1HFY20

August 14, 2020 (MLN): Total amount disbursed by scheduled banks against loans during 1HFY20 was Rs 15.33 trillion, of which Rs 8.5 trillion worth of funds had been issued to Sindh province. In percentage terms, this was 55% of the total funds issued.

In the corresponding period last year, the total disbursement in Sindh against loans stood at Rs 7.99 trillion, showing an increase of 6% YoY.

According to the data issued by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), about 95.92% (Rs 8.16 trillion) of the funds issued to Sindh were utilized in the same region while 4.08% of the funds or Rs 347 billion were utilized in other regions, indicating that around 98.43% of the disbursed amount had been utilized.

Punjab province was allocated Rs 5.835 trillion worth of funds during the period under review of which Rs 5.62 trillion (96.32%) of the funds were spent in the same region, whereas, Rs 214.6 billion (3.68%) deployed for other regions.

Further the data revealed that Rs 873.2 billion worth of funds allocated to Islamabad region which was 6% of the total issued funds. Of the total amount distributed, Rs 713.9 billion (81.76%) was attributed to the same region while Rs 159.2 billion (18%) utilized in other regions, bringing the total utilization to settle at Rs 801.7 billion which was 91.8% of the total amount disbursed.

KPK province got Rs 81.78 billion of the amount disbursed by scheduled banks against loans. Around 81.76% of the amount were spent in the same region while Rs 2.04 billion spent on other regions.

Moreover, the amounts allocated to AJK, Baluchistan, Gilgit Baltistan and FATA during the period were Rs 19.65 billion, Rs 1237 billion, Rs 5.24 billion and Rs 0.1 billion respectively.
